Braces laced, nets raised, and gyms filled for the start of the 2019 volleyball season. The Elkhorn Antlers lead by head coach Abby DaSilva will return eight varsity players from the following season. Following the loss of 2018 senior captains Megan Razler and Maggie McElhose, Claire Burford and Emma Crouch will fill in their shoes as the captains of this year’s team. This will be considered a rebuilding period as the Antlers will start a freshman setter, Grace Heaney this season. The Antlers also have two college commits taking the floor this season, Emma Crouch, University of Missouri- Kansas City, and Claire Burford, Southern Mountain Community College. Beyond commits the players to watch this season are junior Becca Vala, sophomore Sydney Razler, and freshman Grace Heaney.

Elkhorn finished last season 21-16 and 4-4 within the district. This season they are 2-1 in the season. With the two wins coming against Columbus and Wahoo-Bishop Neumann and the only loss on the season coming against Elkhorn South. The Antlers will continue their next competition against Millard South on Tuesday September 10th on their run to state.
