For the first time since the opening of Elkhorn South, Elkhorn’s cross country team competed in the class A state meet at UNK. The girl’s team qualified after winning the A-4 district at Pioneer Park on October 17. Teams they in that district included Bellevue East, Columbus, Kearney, Lincoln Northeast, Millard West, Omaha Burke, and Omaha Central. Senior Kody Smallfoot qualified individually at the district meet placing 5th with a time of 17:03.80.
At Kearney, on October 25th, the qualifiers competed for a state title. The girls, finished 5th in class A with a team score of 148 points. Junior Maddie Yardley placed 15th individually with a time of 19:25.71. Smallfoot also finished well with a time of 17:35.3.
