The clock is still ticking before college applications are due, and the countdown to turn in all “paperwork” on time will come before any student is mentally ready. As Elkhorn’s ACT was canceled in the spring for the Class of 2021, stress to make up the test began to overwhelm students. Frantically trying to sign up for an ACT date in time before applications are due, Elkhorn High School relieves some stress with this newly rescheduled ACT.
For the Class of 2021, the school paid ACT was rescheduled for Tuesday, September 22nd. With this date, scores should come back just in time for college applications. Having this test opportunity will guarantee every senior present will have at least one ACT score available to send to any post-secondary education administration.
During the summer, ACT tests were constantly being canceled or postponed leaving seniors worried there won’t be any more available seats for later in the fall. The majority of the ACT tests still available were further away, in other districts and even cities.
Hailee Janousek has taken 1 ACT already during the summer and another September 19th. “I am scheduled to take the school hosted one and another in October making a total of 4 tests.” Janousek said. “I am trying to get a 32 on the ACT and I’m happy I get another shot to try to get that score with the school ACT.”
Students registered Monday, September 14th during their English class. With that, seniors were able to pick 4 different colleges or organizations to have their ACT score sent to free of charge.
This year’s ACT differs from the years prior with the writing portion being exempted. But the seniors at Elkhorn took a DCA in an ACT writing style as practice for any further testing. The only potential negative about removing the writing portion is that some colleges outside of Nebraska may still require the writing portion in one’s application; meaning that a student would have to sign up to take another ACT this fall or manage to strictly take the writing portion.
“I am incredibly thankful that we get another ACT at school and instead of having to manage our schedules to find time on our own.” Janousek said.
