Number One Uconn was put to a halt after they encountered the Bluejays.  The #15 ranked Creighton Bluejays went head to head in a sold-out arena against the powerhouse team of #1 Uconn. Creighton started hot leading by 21 points going into halftime. The 21-point haul was led by guard Steven Ashworth who had 16 points in the first half.

“He’s definitely finding his role and is fitting into Creighton’s offense. His game against Uconn proved against all criticism,” sophomore Charlie Griffith said.

Creighton did not just win the game with players, the fans came together and sold out  CHI Health Center with a rough attendance of 18,000. The arena was rocking with fans, being one of the main reasons for the outcome of the game.

“I mean going into it everyone expected a crazy atmosphere. Once the final buzzer went off, however, the whole place just exploded and everyone stormed the court and started celebrating,” sophomore Austin Chaney said.  “Getting to take pictures with Creighton’s best players and legends with my friends is something that added to such a great night.”

Storming the court is not a common occurrence however when you beat the top-ranked team by a large margin it is only right if you do. Storming the court capped off a historic night with Creighton winning their first game against a #1 ranked opponent.

“I was overwhelmed by the energy in the building. It was so cool to be a part of history with my buddies. There’s no question it is a blue (Creighton’s main color) state,” junior Judah Narber said. “It was definitely a memorable and historical experience to be a part of.”
