Tailgates can be a way to pregame an exciting event. In Elkhorn High School Student Council’s situation, they were getting ready for a big football game. On Thursday September 12th Elkhorn High School Student council hosted their First Tailgate.
The student council found a new way for students and staff to celebrate Elkhorn High School’s football team before a big game against Gretna East.
A major contributor to this celebration, for the Elkhorn High School football team was Gage Petrick. “It’s a way to get together before the football game,” Petrick said.
The tailgate would be a great way to get everyone involved in game day activities which will also encourage them to have more energy at the game.
There were a lot of options at the Tailgate to get students pumped up.
“There were free snacks, free games, and time to grow relationships between students,” Petrick said.
Participation in these fun activities raises spirits and gets everyone pumped up for the game.
“We’re gonna have a bunch of yard games..football, volleyball, soccer… just other yard games.” Senior Avery Anderson said
There were plenty of fun options offered at the tailgate.
Senior Oliva Bailey said she was excited to hang out with friends. Since there were so many activities, this event was a great way to hang out with friends and show school spirit.
This Tailgate is the first that Elkhorn High School student council has hosted so hopefully it will happen again next year.
