Even though the soccer season hasn’t started yet, Elkhorn High’s boys soccer have had a lot of practice leading up to it during their winter season.
“Staying in shape and being around the atmosphere of your players and coaches is beneficial during the winter season,” sophomore Trey Pacas said. “It helps you stay in shape and stay in training.”
Not only has winter helped the players stay in shape but it helps them get ready for games.
“The winter season has got us more ready for games and it built the team chemistry a lot more,” senior DeShawn Striplin said.
The winter season has ended but the players have stated all of the benefits.
“We played a bunch of teams that we will play in the regular season, and it’s nice to play with the new team this year,” junior Jake Metschke said. “We get to get a feel of a longer field rather than just playing in the high school gym.”
The team did not only get better for the regular season in the winter season but they also won and had a great winter season.
“We went undefeated in the second session in the winter league and we tied once,” Metschke said. “We also beat a really good class A program like Papio South, and we also beat Bennington who we have struggled to beat in past years.”
The EHS soccer team is ready for a great season.
“I am ready to make it to state and be with my friends,” Metschke said.
