Cobra Kai For Life

After a highly anticipated wait, the third season of Cobra Kai premiered January 1, 2021 after spending two years in the making.

!!! Minor Spoiler Alert !!!

I started watching Cobra Kai maybe two or three weeks before season 3 premiered, so I didn’t have nearly as much waiting as the majority had to do, due to season 2 premiering  back in April 2019. I was still super excited to see what happened after the finale. With a devastating ending of season 2 for Miguel Diaz, season 3 picks up right where the show left off.

Cobra Kai is the next chapter in the Karate Kid saga, and  this succeeding chapter was quite enjoyable to binge watch. The main cast put out a dramatic show and, with great performances, brought a nostalgic season 3 to life.

The opening scene seems to be a finals tournament round with Diaz fighting for his title, which had given me hope that he didn’t die in his coma, for me to only find out this was all a dream⸺while he’s in his coma⸺his kind of broke my heart. The story line continues with everyone  hoping for Diaz’s recovery, but after the first episode Robby and Tory are nowhere to be found leaving EVEN MORE of a cliff hanger. Luckily, the whole season was pushed out at once, and there was no need to wait for the next episode.

As I speak so highly of the third season, I’d like to acknowledge this wasn’t the best of the three. Season 2 might’ve been my favorite; it had a superior story line and some great character development. Nevertheless, season 3 did satisfy my want for an explanation of all the cliffhangers, just with a rough start eventually leading to the complex story.

The overall season was full of character development and comedic endeavors, as well as some good theatrics to better the story. Although this season did not get as much attention as the ones prior, in my opinion, it was a good third season. No one is ever sure what to expect in a TV series like this, but the creators did “strike first” with season 1 and “strike hard” in season 2.

The show has already been renewed for a fourth season and I couldn’t be more excited.

8/10 Faith approved.
