John Carpenter’s “Halloween” character Michael Myers came to life for Omaha this fall.

The city was in fear on Monday, October 23 after multiple counts of random attacks were called into local police. At the time of the attacks, the suspect was unknown but was identified by their choice of disguise: the iconic mask worn by Michael Myers in the horror film franchise “Halloween.” The suspect was seen wearing the infamous mask while he ambushed his victims.

These violent attacks involved the perpetrator assaulting people with a hammer before taking their personal belongings. According to Omaha’s  WOWT, the first asault occured just after 6 p.m. near 105th Street and Mockingbird Drive. About 15 minutes later, a second assault was reported near 90th and L Streets., and a third attack war reported around 7 p.m. at a residence near 102nd and Harrison Street.

Each attack described a suspect getting out of a silver sedan before approaching the victims. The highly recognizable mask combinded with home security video footage of one of the assaults helped lead police to a suspect. 20-year-old Jordan Payne who allegedly was aided by a 17-year female, assumed to be his girlfriend, were taken into custody. Payne faces two counts of robbery and two counts of attempted robbery. The girl was booked on two counts of robbery, one count of attempted robbery, and one count of criminal mischief. Thanks to the witnesses and tips from the public, the streets are once again safe in time for Halloween.
