Hoping to gain new information, the Antler Express newspaper staff and the yearbook staff took a trip to the University of Lincoln- Nebraska. The NHSPA held the annual Fall Convention for schools around Nebraska to send their Journalism department to hear from experts on different journalistic topics. There were four sessions to go to, with a variety of classes to choose from. Most of the newspaper staff attended classes that would help them improve their area they focus on. For example, the newspaper’s writer group would go to classes like how to interview people, how to write better headlines, etc. There were classes to help improve and learn new design techniques. For video and photo groups, there were sports photography classes and a podcast class. In between classes, the students got a chance to explore the area around the campus and grab food from a variety of places. Because of these annual trips, the feedback received and the new skills that are learned help better the Antler newspaper.
