Elkhorn High’s softball team is 7-7 overall for their high school season. The first win against Wahoo High school in a regular season game, Elkhorn came out with a win 5-0. There were two home runs in the game and one was hit by a freshman, Olivia Beister.

“I’m pretty happy about my home run because it was my first varsity home run,” Beister said. 

The other home run was hit by junior Karlie Villwok.

“That was my third home run in the past week. I also hit a double and a single,” Villwok said. 

Since Elkhorn did beat Wahoo for the first time in history during a regular season game, they came out strong and ready to fight for the game. 

“Compared to last year we hit better and we scored earlier in the game,” senior Emerson Karstens said. 

Even though scoring runs is important, the Antlers had to have great defense as well. 

“Our defense had no errors and our hitting was pretty solid,” said Villwok. 

They lost to Hastings, 3-0, but put up a good fight. They were planning on playing better as a team and communicating more to overcome the loss. 

“We are going to play better as a team and communicate more,” Beister said. 

The Antlers have been working hard and will keep getting better everyday to achieve their goal of making it to state. Elkhorn High Softball is currently ranked 13th in Class B, and 26th overall in Nebraska softball rankings. Next, they will play Mercy and have 8 more games until districts.
