Omaha was amazed by the incredible artist Billie Ellish at the CHI Health Center on her 16th stop of the “Hit Me Hard and Soft” tour. I was so excited to be able to experience her music in person and I got to go with my best friend. As soon as she announced she was coming to Omaha, my friend and I bought tickets as soon as possible.

Even though my friend and I were in the upper bowl, we still had an amazing time. Many other Elkhorn High students also attended this concert.

As soon as she came out on stage, the energy in the room skyrocketed. She started out with “CHIHIRO” which featured flashing lights and lasers all across the arena which electrified the fans. She followed this song with “LUNCH,” “NDA,” and “Therefore I Am” which are all upbeat songs and had the fans on their feet dancing and singing.

After jumping around for the first couple songs, Billie had a weird request for her song, “when the party’s over,” as she sat down criss-cross applesauce in the middle of the stage. Normally she hates silence and loves when people are being themselves, making lots of noise, and jumping around. However, she wanted to make the melody on the spot, so she asked everyone to be silent for a minute and everyone respected her request. Then, as soon as she started singing everyone started screaming and having a great time again.

Towards the middle of the show, Eilish asked the sold-out crowd to “get low.” We were all super confused, but everyone did what she asked and as soon as the beat dropped we all got back up and went crazy again.

My favorite song of the night was “Bad Guy.” All of her songs are very well written but this one is from when I was obsessed with Billie’s music, so it got me very excited. Not only is it a good song, but all the flashing lights and laser lights, timed to the tempo of the beat, made it a very special experience that not everyone gets to have.

I didn’t know all of her new songs word for word, but I knew parts of them. However, I knew all the songs from older albums. Her latest album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” was released May 17, 2024, containing 10 songs. This gave fans time to learn the songs before going to the concert. This was one of the best nights of my life. I hope that she comes back to Omaha in the future.
