I have never been a fan of Noah Beck. Never in my life did I think that I would love a movie starring him and end up actually becoming a fan. The movie, “Sidelined: The QB and Me”, came out on Tubi, Friday November 29th. It is a movie about this girl named Dallas played by Siena Agudong who is trying to get into a college called CalArts for Dancing. She lives with her brother and transfers schools her senior year because her brother got a coaching job there. That is when she meets Drayton played by Noah Beck, the starting quarterback, who seems to be very egotistical. They end up becoming friends after Dallas not liking him for a while due to Dallas’s best friend dating Drayton’s adoptive brother.
A romance sparks between them after spending some time together because Dallas is a cheerleader so they have to go to away games and ride the same bus. Of course they have their challenges like Dallas being scared of their relationship getting in the way of her getting into CalArts. She decides they need to take a break but they end up finding their way back to each other. Drayton helps Dallas with her dream of going to CalArts and it’s so sweet. I honestly didn’t expect to like this movie so much but I really did.
Personally I have rewatched this movie like five times. It wasn’t like a typical high school teen romance movie with love triangles or bets. It was just a sweet and wholesome representation of what some high school relationships are actually like. It was a bit cheesy at times but I feel like if it wasn’t then it wouldn’t be an actual teen romance movie. Some people might not like it because it might seem boring or not too interesting to them because it doesn’t have your average movie qualities but that’s what makes it so good. I would definitely recommend it if you are like me and don’t like the normal RomCom movies.
