Scores are going up, the audience is loud, Elkhorn Excel is up-roaring the crowd. A few members from Elkhorn High’s show choir explain how the season is going so far.
“We have only been to two competitions so far. We made it to finals in both competitions and everyone is just having a really good time,” sophomore Kyla Burhan said. “We got 4th place in our first competition, and 6th in the second competition.”
The show choir has been doing super well so far into the season and are making great memories with each other.
“The best part of the seasons is the friendships and the bond of everything,” junior Megan Erdkamp said. “I like the freedom we get when we go out to competitions.”
The season is nothing short of fun and positive energy and they plan to have that same energy during the Red Carpet Classics, hosted by Elkhorn on February 8th.
“I’m room hosting so it will be fun, and again the freedom of it all is super fun,” Erdkamp said. “The best part is the night before because we get to set up, and we get to stay as late as we want, it’s fun just hanging out with the team.”
The team’s hard work does not just come out of thin air, they have had to work really hard during practices to improve each competition they go to.
“Practices have been really good, at first there were some difficulties but each time it got better and better,” junior Ehren Lorenson said.
Although the practices have been hard at times, it makes it all worth it at the end.
“”Everyone was feeling really down during rehearsals in the first semester because we were being pushed hard,” Burhan said. “But once competition season came around, everyone’s mood changed and we just started getting really excited.”
The season has just begun for show choir and they have so much more competitions to win and memories to make.
“The best part of the season is making friendships and hanging out with new people,” Lorenson said
