How to pronounce his name?
Nate Garringer (contrary to how the word “ring” is pronounced, the “g” at the end is a soft “g,” like “gem”)
What subject do you teach?
I’m currently teaching physical science and advanced physical science.
How long have you been teaching?
This is my fifth year in education! I taught four years of chemistry at Kearney High School before making the move to Omaha.
What drew you to Elkhorn High School?
Elkhorn is a dominant educational force in the state, and I want to get better at my craft – what better place to do that than here? I want to be a part of something great.
What’s your favorite part of teaching?
Talking with students who are as curious about science as I was when I started. Also working with like-minded individuals in the building who want nothing but success for all students.
Why did you pick the subject you teach?
I was really fascinated with chemistry in college and went through all the classes I could take. I’d also tutor on the side for the university. I enjoyed both, so a good marriage of tutoring and chemistry seemed to be education!
What’s your favorite thing about Elkhorn High School so far?
I’ve loved everything so far! It is a lot of work, but I look forward to showing up every day to talk science with kids. I’ve also been blessed with an amazing department and administration – truly, what else can one ask for?

Been teaching for eight years
What drew you to Elkhorn High School?
His family and he have family and community all around the Elkhorn area. He is hoping to move into Elkhorn proper soon. And he wanted to transition into a smaller school that has a great reputation and hopefully add things to it, like E-Sports.
Why did you pick the subject you teach?
He loves history and the skill-building we get to do.

What subject do you teach?
Math (AP Calc BC)
How long have you been teaching?
19 years, 18 of those in Elkhorn Public Schools
What drew you to Elkhorn High School?
She grew up in Elkhorn and graduated from Elkhorn High School. Her first teaching job was in Gretna, but when a teaching and volleyball coaching opportunity came up at EHS, She took the job. She likes the community, she likes the expectations of the school, and she wanted my own kids to grow up here. As far as currently teaching at EHS, she has been teaching at ESHS since it opened 16 years ago. This year, she was assigned to travel to EHS for one period of the day to teach AP Calc BC.
What’s your favorite part of teaching?
The relationships with students. She loves it when she gets to see more than just answers on a test, but who the kids are as people.
Why did you pick the subject you teach?
She thinks math is beautiful. She loves the challenge. She loves the order and concreteness of the subject as well.
– What’s your favorite thing about Elkhorn High School so far?
It is home. She has felt so supported and welcomed. Although she has taught in the district for a long time, and even at EHS years ago, people are still going out of their way to help her with anything she needs like she is new.

She teaches Algebra 1 and Geometry.

This is her first year teaching
What drew you to Elkhorn High School?
She heard really good things about the students and community and wanted to be a part of it.
What’s your favorite part of teaching?
Her favorite part of teaching is when she can help a student get a lightbulb moment, and they understand the material.
Why did you pick the subject you teach?
She always found herself in positions where she was teaching people. She also really enjoyed math.
What’s your favorite thing about Elkhorn High School so far?
She loves the students and how hard they try and are willing to learn.

What subject do you teach?
He teaches math: Honors Geometry and Algebra 2
How long have you been teaching?
He has been teaching for 14 years
What drew you to Elkhorn High School?
He student taught here and loved it. He’s been to all three Elkhorn High Schools.
What’s your favorite part of teaching?
He says it’s when the kids who don’t understand get that “aha” moment and begin to understand some that was difficult to them at first.
Why did you pick the subject you teach?
He chose to teach math because his junior year math teacher inspired him to try harder and put forth a little bit more effort.
What’s your favorite thing about Elkhorn High School so far?
His favorite part is the community. He says everyone is kind, nice, respectful, and responsible.

What subject do you teach?
He teaches social studies.
How long have you been teaching?
He previously taught at Plattsmouth Middle School for a semester.
What drew you to Elkhorn High School?
He was really interested in Elkhorn High School because, as I was approaching the end of my college career, the school district that everyone said I should take a look at was Elkhorn. I was then lucky enough to meet a recruiter for Elkhorn Public Schools at a job fair for my university. I was completely captured by the energy, drive, and mission of Elkhorn, and he knew he wanted to be a part of it!
What’s your favorite part of teaching?
His favorite part of teaching is helping students discover the world! As a social studies teacher, there is so much about our world that we accept but don’t understand. He gets to help uncover the reason why the world is the way it is with students every day!
Why did you pick the subject you teach?
He actually started college as a chemistry education major. He added social studies education as a second degree. He chose Chemistry originally because He has always loved the beauty of the science that is chemistry. He chose social studies because he believes that it tells us so much about ourselves.
What’s your favorite thing about Elkhorn High School so far?
His favorite thing about Elkhorn High has been the people. He works with such an incredible group of teachers and administrators who are dedicated to students!

Been teaching for two years
What drew you to Elkhorn High School?
She was drawn in by the great reputation that Elkhorn has, as well as the sense of teamwork that I felt while interviewing with the school.
What’s your favorite part of teaching?
Her favorite part of teaching is the moments when content clicks for students, as well as the moments when they are able to laugh in class.
Why did you pick the subject you teach?
She picked English because she has always had a love for writing. “My own English teachers in high school gave me the opportunity to find this love, and it has only continued since.”
What’s your favorite thing about Elkhorn High School so far?
Her favorite part of Elkhorn High is the students! She has already seen so much eagerness to learn and positivity every day.
