Getting Hype for Hyper

New energy bar opens in Elkhorn Nebraska

A glowing aura of summery hues sits over a hidden coffee and energy drink kiosk in a developing residential area. The micro-scopic parking lot and innovative parking jobs fill each and every available inch of room. Warming up the winter that lies ahead, Hyper Energy is a brand new spot to fulfill your sweet tooth.

In Waukee Iowa, 2021, the first Hyper made its way on the map. The energy drink chain has now expanded to Nebraska, and its most recent location opened on Friday, December 12th, with a secret “soft opening” the day before.

Hyper Energy’s main focus is selling different blends of energy drinks, coffee, and snacks with a triple window method, two being drive-thru, and one being a walk-up. This allows customers to receive their drinks as soon as they get to the window, which is usually accompanied by a heart-warming face-to-face interaction with their bubbly baristas.

The kiosk has a color scheme of vibrant hues of red, green, and yellow giving it a retro almost 70s look to it. This bright sign makes this hidden gem a little more noticeable when driving by.

We ordered two small hyper-infused energy drinks from their original menu, one called “Adrenaline Junkie” and the other one “Triple Threat”. Adrenaline Junkie was an all blue raspberry flavor, with the first sip having an almost sour taste similar to taking the first drink of a Sprite from McDonalds. With a mix of green apple, blue raspberry, and white chocolate, Triple Threat had the color of a baja blast and a slight not-too-sweet flavor. Both drinks were pretty good for the price and the size. Just remember to ask for light ice, because those cubes are giant.

Overall, Hyper energy is worth the hype for now. With finished construction on the 7-Brew down the street, will there be competition?
