Kanye West has been in the spotlight for years whether it is in music or in typical celebrity drama with the latest being his possible divorce from his wife, Kim Kardashian. But in the last few weeks, the rumor of his newest album ‘Donda’ dropping has been in most of the headlines. After multiple massive album listening parties and many weeks of waiting, on Sunday the album was finally released with really no one being told about it.

Many of the songs on the album had been leaked, but obviously Kanye had made some changes to them since. The listening parties he had hosted got many people hyped up to hear the final product. The album was rumored to have a huge array of future with many notable names like Kid Cudi and Travis Scott, but also some less popular artists like Fivio Forein. Five of the songs on the album are just Kanye and the other 17 have features ranging through all types of artists such as The Weekend, and Lil Baby.

The album has been received differently by many people. The main theme is for sure focused on Kanye’s relationship with God and his Mother, ‘Donda’, hence the name of the album. Some people are not big fans of the album due to it being very long and also having some ‘Part 2’s’ to some of the songs. Personally, I really enjoyed the album. The best songs were filled with amazing lyricism from Kanye and also was put together by great features from other artists. As always with Kanye’s albums, there were many unique beats that really got the listener involved. My personal favorite tracks include “Jesus Lord” (Feat. Jay Electronia), “Off the Grid ( Feat. Fivio Foreign and Playboi Carti), “Believe What I Say”, and “Pure Souls” (feat. Roddy Ricch and Shenseea). The insane amount of features was definitely a highlight of the album as well. Some of the best was Fivio Foreign on “Off the Grid ” and Roddy Ricch on “Pure Souls.”

Despite the many highs of the album, there were a couple lows and the worst was probably “Tell the Vision” (Feat. Pop Smoke). This is an alternate version of the song “We Made It” by Pop Smoke which was posthumously released by Pop Smoke this year. Besides these couple lows, the album was very consistent and had a good variety of music which is something you can always expect from Kanye. The album would become number one on the Billboard 200 chart in its first week.
