Drake, known to many as ChampagnePapi, recently released his 6th album: Certified Lover Boy. After releasing his first album in 2009, Drake’s music has only become more popular with time. Born in Canada, Drake has had a passion for music ever since he was very young. At the age of 15 Drake finally began getting noticed with acting and music opportunities, this would forever change Drake’s life.

Drake’s newest album, Certified Lover Boy was released on all platforms on September 3rd, 2021. The album has very mixed reviews, it seems that listeners either love it or hate it. Drake collaborates with other artists on the album including: Lil Baby, Future, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Lil Wayne, Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, and a few other artists. The album is supposed to address the truth and issue of toxic masculinity in our generation. Drake says this truth is heartbreaking. The album cover for Certified Lover Boy has 12 pregnant women pictures in emojis, each with different physical characteristics. Critics say this may be because Drake’s album was delayed from release by nine months.

The top song at the moment from Certified Lover Boy is “Way 2 Sexy” (Feat. Future & Young Thug), this song is going viral on Tik Tok and several dances have already been created for this track. This hit song shows the listeners that the man described in the album thinks he is better than everything and everyone. When you first listen to this song it may sound familiar, this is because it shares aspects to Right Said Fred’s song from 1991 “I’m Too Sexy.” Another track on Certified Lover Boy that fans of the album can’t stop talking about is “Girls Want Girls” (Feat. Lil Baby). This song has sparked many questions by critics because of the meaning behind the song- it is very controversial.

While there are a few songs from the album that many people seem to be listening to on repeat, the rest of the album seems to be still unknown by listeners. Drake has been producing albums for over a decade and his music has been popular among people with all sorts of different tastes in music, many people still have not bothered to listen to this album. Around the release date, Kanye West released his new album about his mother titled Donda. Kanye’s album has better reviews and more listeners. Instead of projecting good vibes in Certified Lover Boy, when listeners play the album they feel the opposite of that with the negative lyrics. Overall, Drake has produced better albums with better messages, that is why many listeners are disappointed with the outcome of Certified Lover Boy.
