The new “IT” couple, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have taken the internet by storm. It all started when Swift’s blockbuster “Eras” tour made a stop at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium. A popular “Eras” tour tradition had fans create friendship bracelets to trade with other fans. Kelce, a Kansas City Chiefs player wanted to give a friendship bracelet that had his number on it (phone or jersey number is anybody’s guess) to Taylor while attending her Eras Tour concert, but was informed she didn’t meet people before or after shows to save her voice.

After his public pursuit, Kelce admitted he had invited Swift to see him play a game at Arrowhead.

“I threw it out there, I threw the ball in her court,” Kelce told The Pat Mcafee Show. “I told her, ‘you know, I’ve seen you rock the stage in Arrowhead, you might have to come see me rock the stage in Arrowhead and see which one’s a little more lit.”

Swift eventually accepted an invitation to watch a Chiefs game. Since then, Swift has attended three football games, watching the tight end score touchdowns. Swift watches alongside Kelce’s mom, Donna Kelce, in their suite. After the first game Swift attended, Kelce rented out a restaurant for dinner for the team in which Taylor attended. After the dinner, the two rode away together in his getaway car. This night sparked rumors about the new couple as this was the first public sighting of the two. Since then, they have appeared on an episode of Saturday Night Live (though not together) and Swift has been seen in Chiefs gear, including the Oct. 22 game at Arrowhead when the Chiefs beat the Los Angeles Chargers and Swift showed off a celebration handshake with Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. It appears Kelce and Swift plan to keep the relationship going as she begins the South American leg of her “Eras” tour. Kelce has said he plans to visit her in Argentina during the Chiefs off week in November.

Even though this power duo is new, it has great potential. Swift has had a number of exes throughout her career but many are intimidated by her immense fame. Kelce seems to do well in the spotlight and he has seen astonishing growth in not only Instagram followers but also his jersey sales since his relationship with Swift began. Since their first appearance together, his jersey sales are up nearly 400%. Chiefs game ticket sales are also skyrocketing as many Swifties attend to try and get a glimpse of Taylor. Due to Travis Kelce’s fame in the NFL world and Taylor Swift’s in the music industry, the two have a sense of understanding of one another, yet aren’t threatened by each other. The tight end and pop star don’t seem to be taking things too seriously at the moment, but it’s a love story in the making. And afterall, she said “yes.”
