All Eyez on Duane Keith Davis

The famous murder case of legendary rapper 2pac solved after 27 years.
All Eyez on Duane Keith Davis

One of the biggest unsolved crimes in modern pop culture may have a resolution. Twenty-seven years after his murder, rapper and actor Tupac Shakur may finally get justice. Duane Keith Davis was charged with the murder of Tupac Shakur on September 29th, potentially bringing to an end the numerous conspiracy theories associated with the popular artist’s death.

After attending one of the biggest boxing matches of the 90s between Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon, Shakur was fatally wounded in a drive-by shooting. He was taken to the hospital but died six days later. There has been speculation for years over who committed the crime but it wasn’t until recently that police had enough evidence to confidently proceed with the arrest. The case was brought back to life after the execution of a search warrant at a home linked to Davis. Davis has been a suspect since the crime took place and has spoken on the topic in his memoir and in interviews. Davis was in the passenger seat of the white Cadillac associated with the shooting when shots were fired at the black BMW sedan that Tupac and Death Row records founder Marion Hugh “Suge” Knight inside. Davis is not the suspected murderer, however, he is being labeled as the “shot caller” of the situation. Davis was the one who planned it out and obtained the weapon that he handed off to the shooter.

“Duane Davis was the shot caller for this group of individuals that committed this crime,”  Las Vegas police homicide Lt. Jason Johansson told the Associated Press. “He orchestrated the plan that was carried out.”

Davis is the last living person who was in the vehicle at the time of the murder, but it is believed that Davis’s nephew, Orlando Anderson, was the shooter. Davis confessed to police that Anderson was the shooter.  Anderson was questioned by police, but the police didn’t have enough information to make an arrest. Anderson died in a shooting shortly after and never served time for the crime committed.
